There Are So Many Ways You Can Help

- host a bake sale or yard sale and donate the proceeds to HSOC?
- donate paper, stamps, or envelopes so that HSOC's members can print and mail
adoption applications and information on our shelter and clinic programs?
- donate grooming supplies (towels, shampoos, combs, brushes, clippers,
blades, scissors)?
- donate MONEY?
- donate a crate, dog bed, x-pen, baby gate, dog toys, dishes, collars,

them from pet stores, pet brokers, casual or backyard breeders and others who do
not subscribe to the breed's Code of Ethics?
- pay for an ad in your local/metropolitan paper to help place rescue pets?

Things Your School Can Do To Help
- Have your class sponsor an animal that is at the shelter. Raise money to help cover medical costs and
supplies until we can place the animal into a home.
- Instead of bringing presents for students birthdays’, bring in donations for the shelter.
- Sign up for summer education programs. The HSOC has education programs all summer long where children
can learn about animal care and get hands on experience with the animals living at the shelter.
- Hold a dress up/dress down day to raise money and awareness for the shelter.
- Bring your class to volunteer at special events for the shelter.Have donation drives to bring in items for
the dogs and cats at the shelter.
- Design posters for the shelter to hang up in your school.
- Encourage friends and family to adopt pets from shelters instead of going to pet stores or breeders.
- Organize a class trip to a shelter to get familiar with how they work and see what you can do to help.
- Most importantly, be a good pet owner yourself. Take your pet to regular veterinary check ups, play with
them, pet them and be kind to them.
